Mac Cunanan grew up in an artistically inclined family. He was surrounded by music all his life, which led him to his passion. He started by making hip-hop beats and wrote down lyrics when he was just in the 5th grade. His love then evolved to electronic music, and he started collecting vinyl’s at an early age of 16.
At the last quarter of 2003, He taught himself how to spin with the aid of the internet and a book “How To DJ” by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. To sharpen his skills, he practiced almost every day in his bed room and performed in small house parties. He did this for about half a year until he finally thought it was time to graduate from being just a bed room DJ.
Mac got his first gig at a bar in Makati on August 2004, and that’s when it started. Manila got a taste of Mac’s Music. From then on, he has been given the chance to play in bars/clubs such as Bellisima, Luce, Absinth, Mezze, M. Café, Capones, Fiamma, Fez, Nuvo, Rock Candy, Halo, Embassy (Cafeteria/Cuisine/Vip), and Alchemy (Club) just to mention a few. Mac also became a regular guest in bars/clubs such as Coquina, Bora bar, Peligro/Hole, Quisine 6750, and Warehouse 135. Every summer Mac Cunanan is asked to play in provinces such as Pampanga, Baguio, and the white sand beaches of Boracay.
August 2005, Mac Cunanan formed his own Production’s Company / DJ Group (~Curv Productions / Curv Entertainment). Their group became regulars in bars/clubs such as Manila DJ Club (fort), Maestro Lounge, Bamboo Lounge, Intoxica, Bedspace, Club Manhattan, Cyma (Greenbelt3), and Alchemy (O Lounge).
October 2007, Mac thought that being in a DJ group was holding him back so he decided to abandon Curv and go on his own again. And after this split, He has set his goals anew – and they are higher than ever.
Mac has a wide range of music style (HOUSE) which can go from down tempo, deep, disco, funky, to tech. Learning and being inspired by his favorite DJs/Producers, his knowledge and taste in music continues to grow and mature.
